These masks on offer here are ideal to protect from infected droplets but they are not surgical masks or N95 respirators.

There are considerable medical evidence that countries that flattened the curve had a common usage of masks.  The Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, did a detailed study that face masks may have played a role in limiting the spread of Covid-19 in Asian countries like Singapore & Taiwan.   

So why is wearing a mask important? For that one needs to understand the ecology of the virus and the way it spreads. Since this is a RNA a virus and its aerosol it can move through the air via air droplets. Once the virus Sars-CoV-2 (Covid-19 as names by WHO) enters the body it affects the cells and enables more of its self to be made. As the virus multiples inside the cell it bursts it gets fused with the body liquid in the lungs, mouth and nasal area.  When an infected person coughs or sneezes it can send showers of tiny water droplets filled with the virus which can be inhaled by others in the room. Typically a single cough can send 2000 plus droplets into the room. Its possible the tiny air droplets will remain in the air for hours but also they can land on the surface enabling contact with others. There has been some studies which also suggest that the coronavirus can spread through ventilation systems.

Dr Ben Cowling, head of epidemiology from the University of Hong Kong has mentioned that "Face  masks could assist in lowering the spread in the community especially in public places such as public transport". This can be very important for those in London who use the underground daily to get to work.

Another reason why masks should be worn by public at large is the nature of coronavirus since asymptomatic carriers can still spread the virus. It is well documented that 6 - 18% of those carrying the virus do not show any symptoms. Studies also show that Covid-19 has a incubation period of of 5 to 14 days before the serious symptoms like fever, headache start to develop. So in short they can spread the virus without them even knowing they have the bug. So when everyone is wearing the mask that could greatly help in lowering transmission.

The masks which we are offering here can be washed and reused but this is not the perfect solution and its advised to use a fresh mask.
